Familia, the time is here for us to gather together once more to celebrate the essential forces of beauty that give meaning to all of life. Together as a tribe we sing, pray, dance, speak and play this world back into beauty. Join us for an inspiring evening on May 30th as we dive into the future of contemporary Indonesian Fashion and Design.
A talk and discussion lead by Emmelyn Gunawan founder of Canaan Store, Irma Wy of Irma Wy Jewellery and Putri Soediono founder and designer of Pubumésu.
In a fast paced globalizing world the contemporary Indonesian design scene balances between old and new, heritage and trend. Faced with the challenge of maintaining this unique balance, while weaving it’s own design identity and aesthetical principles, the designers are in a unique yet challenging position.
We’ll look into how Indonesian designers and creative entrepreneurs approach the local and international markets. From changing consumer mentality to the role of governmental support in promotion of this artistry.

Can you believe that it’s our 7th year of PechaKucha Night Ubud?
‘PechaKucha’ Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of “chit chat”, it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It’s a format that makes presentations concise and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.
PechaKucha has enjoyed a long and successful history in Ubud, Bali, facilitated from day one by the Hubud: Ubud coworking community space team, hosted by BetelNut Bali. Since this event was introduced in Ubud there have been 39 individual PechaKucha Night (PKN) Ubud. PKNs have established themselves and one of the most popular events on the Ubud calendar.
Welcoming our 40th Edition, yeah it’s 40! We will welcome six-speaker guests to present in the fast, fun and engaging 20×20 format: 20 images, each for 20 seconds. Be warned to uncover the unexpected.
